Artist Statement:
"I always work with faces while
giving my imagination free reign to invent little worlds that
parallel our own. My imagery
is peopled with often strange but intensely familiar beings. I love
mood and drama. My themes are a
blend of subjects ranging from carnival to evidence of natural
and unnatural events. I‘m always
mindful of our fractured relationship with nature and sexual
politics. Along with larger,
simpler oils on canvas, often with big heads, I’m simultaneously
working on smaller more detailed
oils on wood without large heads that tend to have more
narrative content."
Emily Trovillion was named one of New Mexico’s top 150 artists in an
article in the June/July
2008 issue of the Santa Fean
