My creations are made from a base of buckrum
which is hand formed. They have millinery wire meticulously sewn
around the edges and are covered in brilliantly dyed silk velvets.
My decorations come from all over the world and close to home. Some
details are found in my garden and some from my travels to Bali or
Venice. Detail and asymmetry are important in my work.
My inspiration comes from the old Venetian style of Comedia del Arte
and I combine mythical beings with nature spirits. My masks are
wearable because I believe in the transformational power of masks. I
have been creating masks for 30 years for myself, various theatrical
productions, and as fine art. They have a life of their own and a
wildness that keeps me always wanting to create another and yet
another.
