The Garden of the 12th House is a collection of poetry and short stories written over the past few years- an exploration of sorrow and joy as equal partners in the creative process. The exercise, unresolved without physical form, needed the sculptures in this body of work to complete the journey.

An excerpt from The Garden of the 12th House:

…Last night Kafka woke me. He announced in his dry thick voice that he had known Papa. It was his first visit. He had come to inform me of my metamorphosis. The red glowing slits, the openings in the cast iron doors that hold back the fire are no longer an image that floats up from the recesses of time, no longer a metaphor for things that have passed. They are the hourglass on my back; the tattoo on my black enameled skin. I am Spider Women and I have been given the task of reweaving the universe. I am to write you the story of where I have been and who I am becoming…
