Color, light, texture, prayer, my life and my ancestors’ legacy facilitate my abstract mosaic panels. I utilize deep meditation, physical strength, years of mastery and love to create these colorful and textured pieces. I intend to transform polymer clay into a fine art medium
Originally I used polymer clay to create jewelry and I have traveled the country selling my art jewelry with great success. During a residency in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, which took place from 2003-2005, I became inspired to transform polymer clay into wall art and have been experimenting with this direction ever since. I blend all my colors manually; it takes hours of kneading and rolling clay to get just a couple of colors. I then layer, or swirl, the colors and stack them into canes which are long, lean bricks. These are sliced to create the tiles for the mosaics. It takes further work to get them assembled and cured.
My work is full of whimsy, color and patterns. It is inspired by my love for life, my family and by the world around me. I infuse it with positive energy and love.
